The announcement was made at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, with Ken Chan, CEO of Patience Capital Group, also in attendance as his executive advisor appointment was announced at the same time.

Seibu HD, along with Seibu Realty Solutions and Nomura Real Estate, revealed plans for the ambitious Karuizawa Sengataki District Project in Nagano Prefecture.  

Shigeru Ban, born in Tokyo in 1957 and recipient of the 2014 Pritzker Architecture Prize, is known for his innovative use of materials like paper tubes and wood.  

Ken Chan, born in Tokyo in 1967, previously led GIC Japan, developing a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. 

Their appointments took effect on April 16th, with the project aiming to transform a 226,854 square meter site into a resort destination by 2029.  

This site, once bustling with ice skating, hotels, and hot springs, now only has operational hot spring facilities.  

The project seeks to revitalize the area using Ban's and Chan's expertise.
